Frequently Asked Questions about e-Coaching using WordPress
This is an FAQ section is specific to using WordPress/edublogs to create e-Portfolios. These FAQs will provide the e-coaches with specif information that they can quickly cut and paste responses to queries their cohorts submit or add the content to a blog they set up for their cohort. 1. How can I change the password and the title of my blog?
Following this path will allow you to change general information about your blog. Please not the usename you initially selected is not changeable. In order to change that you need to create a new blog with a new username.
Path: Dashboard>My Profile (in the upper left corner)
Make changes to the required fields and click view changes
2. How can I restrict who can access my blog?
This will allow you to prevent people not registered with edublogs from viewing your e-Portfolio.
Dashboard>Options>Privacy

I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors
Registration
Dashboard >Options >General >New User Default Role.

Membership: Users must be registered and logged in to comment
3. How can upload images to a page or a post?
There are a number of ways to add images and other media to your blogs.
Dashboard>Write>Write Post
To add an image from a web site
Select the area where you wish to insert the image and then click on the button with the image of a tree. Enter the URL of the image and click insert.
To upload and add an image, video, audio track, or text file to your post
Scroll down to the area just below the visual editor. Click Browse and select the desired media file from your computer. Click open in the file box and then select click upload. Title the upload and write a description. Select thumbnail, title (provides a link), or full sized image and click send to editor. Your file will appear in the post.
4. How can I move a page to the front of my e-Portfolio?
You may wish to move a page to the front of your e-Portfolio in order to change the overall appearance. In order to this follow this path:
Dashboard>Options>Reading>Front Page

5. How can I ensure only registered edublogs users have access to my site?
In order to restrict your site to only visitors registered to edublogs follow this path:
Dashboard>Plugins>Activate plugin Registered users only

6. How can I make a page or post complete private except to those with administrative privileges?
This setting will allow you to allow only viewers with administrative rights to view a selected post or page.
Dashboard>Write Post>
Check the box privacy box in the lower right hand corner of the page
7. How can I add a slideshow to my site?
You will need to sign up for a slideshow program like bubble share, or rockyou. If you wish to create PDF slides that will appear on your pages or posts you need to create a slideshow in one of these programs and cut and paste co de from it into your WordPress site. rockyou is very flashy, gimmicky but fun. Bubble share is a good way to embed slideshows with an optional audio capability. I have described how embed a slideshow in bubbleshare in the following pictures.
